أعلن القائمون على إدارة مهرجان كان السينمائي الدولي عن الأفلام التي ستتنافس من أجل نيل السعفة الذهبية للدورة 78 لهذا العام المقرر إقامتها في الفترة من 13 إلى 24 مايو.

أقام المهرجان مؤتمرًا صحفيًا في العاصمة باريس كشف فيه عن أفلام البرنامج الرسمي والتي ضمت فيلمًا مصريًا هو "عائشة لا تستطيع الطيران" للمخرج مراد مصطفى ضمن مسابقة "نظرة ما"، ثاني مسابقات المهرجان أهمية. نفس المسابقة تضمنت فيلمين عربيين هما "ذات مرة

في غزة" للمخرجين الفلسطينيين عرب وطرزان ناصر و"سماء موعودة" للمخرجة التونسية أريج السحيري.

سيتم الكشف في الأيام المقبلة عن الأفلام المختارة لبرامج المهرجان الموازية (نصف شهر المخرجين، أسبوع النقاد، آسيد)، كما يقوم البرنامج الرسمي عادة بإضافة عدد من الأفلام خلال الأسبوع الأخير من شهر أبريل.
